Kristen English
Kristen English is a multi-faceted performing artist and educator from Kawartha Lakes, ON who made St. John’s, NL her home in 2020. Her passion for performance and fascination with vocal pedagogy led her to complete a MMus in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy at Memorial University of Newfoundland (2022). She also holds a BEd in Int/Sen Vocal Music and French Education from Queen’s University (2016), and a BMus in Vocal Performance and Music Education from Wilfrid Laurier University (2015). She continues to actively pursue opportunities for learning in the fields of voice pedagogy and the French language.

Kristen is a versatile and dynamic singer and voice pedagogue who has performed extensively across a variety of genres, including folk, choral, Latin American, popular, and classical music, throughout Canada for the past two decades. She has been the soprano soloist in various performances of Faure’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah and was an advanced classical semi-finalist in the 2022 NATS National Student Auditions competition in Chicago. Kristen also has extensive experience as a choral singer, having worked as a section lead and principal singer for several choirs. She is currently a professional chorister in Lady Cove and a member of Projēkt Chamber Voices. Recent screen credits include Son of a Critch, Surreal Estate, and Saint-Pierre. Kristen has also performed many times with St. John’s Improv, was a semi-finalist in Atlantic Canada’s Biggest Improv Tournament in 2023, and made her Sketch Fest debut in 2024. She regularly performs as a member of alternative folk music duo, Ocean Bound, and Latin-Canadian music group, De La Paz Latin Music.
Always looking for opportunities to share the joy she finds in learning, Kristen has enjoyed working as a music and French teacher in Canada and Australia for over a decade while also creating teaching resources for her passion project, Kreativities by Kristen. Since 2023, she has been a co-artistic director of La chorale des Grands-Vents, Le chœur du Rocher, and the St. John’s Newcomer Choir. Most recently, in 2026, Kristen and her partner, Julien Bouchard, brought a longtime dream to life with the launch of Ocean Bound Studios, their home-based music teaching studio. Kristen is an active nature lover who is always seeking adventure and has a keen zest for acquiring new skills. Her current passions include hiking, swimming, bouldering, travel, hand balancing, baking, and making music with her song-writing partner. Outside of music, Kristen’s other great loves include good cheese, her ever-expanding collection of plants, and her two cats, Cecil and Azalea.

Julien Bouchard is a musician and teacher from Moncton, NB. He holds degrees in music and education from l’Université de Moncton and Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador respectively.

As a multi-instrumentalist, Julien has performed in various groups in diverse genres ranging from opera to rock ‘n’ roll, Canadian traditional to Latin American, and many more. His most recent work includes guitar and vocal work with alternative folk duo, Ocean Bound, percussion and vocal work for De La Paz Latin Music, bass and vocal work for Port-aux-Poutines, and work as the drummer for Project Highlife.
